Section 3.6.2: Example Questions
To solve these examples you can
either use the
web-based linear solver (Section L1.2)
or you can
make a spreadsheet solver (Section L2.4) for yourself.
If you are using Fortran:
You should copy the
linear solver demonstration program
and use it for the first seven examples.
For the final example, modify the program so that it sets up
the equation coefficients by means of assignment instructions rather than
asking for them from the keyboard.
Problems
In the following examples, all symbols represent unknowns unless otherwise
stated. Some problems do not lead to solutions. The web solver
will in this case return all unknowns as zero and and print an error message.
The spreadsheet solver will produce error messages in the
solution cells. if this happens, look carefully at the
equations you have suppled and see why a solution could not be found.
